Why Construction Details Matter
Two ropes described as “6×19” can use different strand patterns and cores. Fiber cores can improve flexibility, while independent wire-rope cores can increase metallic area and resistance to crushing. The purchaser should therefore specify the governing standard or provide a drawing instead of relying only on the construction label.
304 or 316 Stainless Steel?
Grade 304 is widely used for general outdoor and industrial service. Grade 316 contains molybdenum and is often selected for marine, coastal and chloride-bearing environments, although it is not immune to corrosion. Exposure conditions, cleaning, crevices and contact with dissimilar metals must be reviewed.
