Manufacturing Process of Stainless Steel Shaped Wire
The production of stainless steel shaped wire requires a precise balance between dimensional accuracy and material performance.

1. Raw Material Preparation
High-quality stainless steel round wire or billets are used as the base material. The raw steel must have uniform composition and be free from cracks or internal defects to prevent wire breakage during processing.

2. Forming Process
Cold Drawing
This is the most common and precise method. Using hard-alloy or diamond dies, the round wire is drawn through custom-designed profile dies, gradually forming the target non-circular cross-section.
The cold drawing process enhances tensile strength through work hardening, ensures tight dimensional tolerance (up to ±0.01 mm), and delivers a smooth surface finish (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm).
Hot Rolling
Used mainly for large-size profile wires, this process involves rolling heated billets through shaped rollers. Although hot rolling offers higher productivity, its surface finish and dimensional precision are lower than cold drawing, and additional finishing is usually required.
3. Finishing Operations
After forming, the wire undergoes straightening (to remove internal stress and improve linearity), cutting (to the required length), and surface treatments such as acid pickling to remove oxides, polishing to enhance brightness, or plating/coating for improved corrosion resistance or functionality.
